Somebody has to hide Rahm Emmanuel’s prescription for Stupid Pills before he gets it refilled.
Emmanuel is the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. His job is to help elect Democratic Congressmen.
Heather Wilson is a Republican Congresswoman from New Mexico who, of late, has been questioning whether the Bush administration’s warrantless wiretap program is legal. By a remarkable coincidence, a lot of Democrats say the program is illegal.
Now, when a Republican adopts a Democratic position, what is the smart thing for a Democrat to do: (1) commend the Republican for adopting a reasoned and principled position, or (2) ignore the Republican, or (3) assert that the Republican is adopting the position merely to please her constituents.
If you commend the Republican for adopting a reasoned and principled position, you are at the same time commending your fellow Democrats for being reasoned and principled. Moreover, you are encouraging other Republicans to adopt your position.
If you ignore the Republican, you are at least not affording her more publicity, which is the last thing you want to give her if her position is either reasoned and principled or is being adopted because it pleases her constituents.
If you assert that the Republican is adopting the position merely to please her constituents, you are at least implying that others who hold that position may also be acting from expediency rather than principle (in case you’ve forgotten, Rahm, the others who hold that position are Democrats), and you are publicizing a position that you believe will please her constituents (and, not to put too fine a point on it, Rahm, will help her get re-elected).
Guess which of the options Rahm chose?
"Hide the Prescription for Stupid Pills", no need, most of the Judiciary and those with great Media access have already OD'd on the "Stupid Pills". If anymore "Stupid Pills" are taken their mouths will not work, their brains already don't work so if their mouths won't work maybe we'll have some peace and quiet. No, that won't work either, they can still write, can we break their hands so they can't communicate with anyone?
